Things don’t look good for Coco, as the Knights Moralis have her. On one hand, they see the damage is done and need to restore order. The problem is they are passing judgment before proof is seen because they assume that Coco is responsible. In fact, that is not 100% true because the ink Coco used is violated by the Masked Witch. No doubt Qifrey will defend his students until his last breath.

But it is Olruggio’s words that have the most weight. There are civilians in danger, and witches are meant to help people first. The fact the girls are already doing it proves they are more witches than the Knight Moralis. No doubt Coco needs to be careful dealing with them, but it is great to see that not only Qifrey has her back, but the other apprentices too.

It’s interesting to learn there are 5 tests that witches can take. Each number gives what it allows the student.
- Allows them to choose a teacher.
- Permission to cast spells in public.
- Approval to attempt the Librarian Trial.
- Graduate from your teacher’s side.
- Able to take on apprentices.

Agott is seen as the most hardworking of Qifrey’s apprentices, and the time by the river is a valued experience for her, according to Qifrey. He definitely offers a lax approach, and Olruggio’s concerns about Agott are valid. But the issue with Agoot is when she isolates herself too much, so boosting her motivation is smart here. With that being said, Agott wanting to be a librarian at the Tower of Tomes is interesting. What is more interesting is her family’s lineage; hopefully the series can dive into that soon. There could there be a connection between being a librarian and knowledge from the wise ones.

Qivery’s motivations are still interesting because as more bizarre things are happening, he wants more of them to be kept a secret. Obviously the seal between the bottles sharing contents and increasing magnitude when magic is cast is alarming. Though why is he trying to hide so much from the Great Hall and the Order? What is he after?

Before the masked witch shows up in front of Qivery, we get some world-building regarding magical potions no longer being a thing. Why did things get phased out? Because one would think the concept of them is something that would be embraced more than kept hidden. As potions show, they fall under the category of magical items. Sadly, Qivery bites off more than he can chew and is caught in the act by the Masked Magician.

We get a bigger introduction to Tartah where we learn he has Silvereye Syndrome. Rather than being colorblind, he looks at the world in a silver view. Which might be considered worse than just being colorblind because for that you can have a contrast of blacks and whites. No doubt it is quite painful that something that he is born with prevents him from being a witch. While Coco was someone who came to this world and can be a witch, of course he holds no hate for Coco because that is just the way of the world.

Thanks to Coco’s help, it is quite interesting to see how he figures out which medicine is the one Coco needs. With Coco’s help, he reverse engineers a spell seal and gets Coco what she needs. Of course the nurses come back in time, but you can tell he will be an important ally for Coco going forward as he holds strength that differs from Qivery’s other apprentices. As Coco mentions, what happens if you were to reverse engineer a forbidden spell? Would the outcome be not forbidden anymore?
