Delicious in Dungeon – Volume 2

As the volume continues, the amount of worldbuilding being spaced out is great. The monsters introduced here being:

  • Golems
  • Orcs
  • Mimics
  • Treasure Insects
  • Ghosts
  • Living Pictures
  • Kelpies

Through the Golems and Keleps, we see an interesting interaction between Marcille and Senshi regarding magic. Senshi with the Golems brings up a good point of something being easier and convenient. Senshi’s point is correct that something being convenient can dull your skills over time. We can even see that in real life. Still, sometimes the use of magic being more convenient has its uses. As Senshi was attacked by the Kepie that he thought had befriended him. It is interesting to get both their sides and see neither is more right.

In both the encounter of Living Pictures and Orcs, we get some interesting world-building. We can see there is clear friction between Orcs against humans and elves. Showing how it is outside. Though as Laios travels in the pictures, he travels through 3 different time periods. He shows up at the prince’s birth, wedding, and coronation. More than likely this might be more important down the line, I can imagine.

Despite not being in the party, we get to see how important Falin is. She dealt with curses and whatnot. Essentially, you could classify Marcille as the party’s mage and Falin as their priest. It is interesting how Senshi with his natural resources, can deal with curses much like Falin did, so she isn’t irreplaceable. Though her skill is tough to replace. Again, while Senshi being able to defeat the ghosts is impressive, the convenience of Falin’s magic is difficult to beat. As Marcille stresses how advanced her spells are despite not being powerful like hers. The Red Dragon being on the move does present the point that time is of the essence.
