Kaya-chan isn’t Scary – Volume 7

This chapter really dived into how fucked the Ebisumori family is. So essentially what Mirai is doing is digesting the previous priestess’s umbilical cord. Though even more so, the non-priestess daughter’s only duty is to be used as curses for the family. Which explains why the family tree was very one-sided, because before Mirai the only daughters came from the priestess. As such, it is clear that Kaya is the exception.

Though you can understand why Mirai hates her family as much as she does. Her aunt Yoshie gave her and Nana the love that their mother never did. Granted, one could argue she was pushing Mirai for a life outside the family, but unfortunately the way Mutsu did it was wrong. Instead of supporting Mirai when she was going through rough times, they did nothing. So when the truth comes out regarding Yoshie you can understand the pain Mirai went through.

The birth of Kaya is painful for her because she at least hoped for an ordinary life. But sadly, Kaya is more than likely between a priestess and a curse. As Namu had his suspicions of her. As we know, Nana was born prematurely, which is why her power doesn’t compare to Mutsu or Kaya. While you can understand the mother’s pain, it is disheartening for her to want to end her own child’s life. As understanding her pain is understandable, Kaya is innocent however.
