First we go from Usami chasing down Kadokura to ending up in a fight with Ogata. This fight really resembles Ogata to a tee because if you think you’ve got Ogata down, he makes the surprise comeback. He literally loaded his rifle from the bullet that was in his mouth. Talk about insanity.

The episode had great choreography, but the scene that shined was when Ogata sniped Usami. As we have Sugimoto fighting Jack the Ripper, he is in Ogata’s firing range. The fact his bullet goes through the room Sugimoto & Asirpa are in makes you wonder, is he aiming to kill Asirpa? Well, it makes sense he would aim for Usami given their rivalry.

This series wouldn’t be how it was if we didn’t get some Ainu culture mixed in. Although Jack the Ripper’s reason for killing those women, simply rooted in the fact that his mother wasn’t a virgin, is incredibly fucked up. Man, we’re getting Sugimoto even more enraged than Asirpa is. Though the saying is, It doesn’t matter who you come from; it is the life you put out for yourself. As this relates to Asirpa, her father’s history is unknown, but she is moving forward with what she is doing for the Ainu.

Usami ends up making his way to Tsurumi and giving the skin he got from Kadokura. As well as some news that is most likely the skin on the back of Kadokura that is unfinished. This scene highlights a previous conversation between Usami & Tsurumi, wherein Tsukishima’s flashback, Tsurumi took a blow for Tsukishima in front of his men. Which Usami mentions that Tsurumi called Tsukishima a brother in arms in front of his men to boost morale. In that scene, Usami even says he wishes that Tsurumi would use him as a pawn in the same way. Thus we get a very similar situation where Usami is bringing back a skin and information for Tsurumi, which can be viewed as boosting the morale of Usami’s sacrifice. Now whether this is intentional or not on Tsurumi’s part is yet to be determined.

It is quite ironic that Keiji Ueji’s death happened because he aimed to disappoint everyone. But eventually the only one he disappointed was himself. Quite funny that his disappointed face, which looked like his father’s face, is what his final laugh was at. Though he really laughed at himself.

This episode adapted chapters 254-257
- I really like how they adapted the choreography. While it isn’t top-tier animation by any means, it is very efficient with the animation it has and makes the most out of it.
- They did adapt the Keiji Ueji flashback in this chapter. Honestly, I would argue that the previous one being cut is a good move because you can tell his father had high expectations of him. Plus, there is a lot of ground that this final season needs to cover.
