In the beginning of the episode, we see Sugimoto’s side get separated from Hajime’s side. Which is a good illustration of the harsh winters as they are traveling up. Though Tanigaki offering the same food to Sugimoto that we saw in Tanigaki’s flashback was a nice callback to it. We once again see the good nature of Sugimoto in helping the family find their daughter, and he isn’t as irredeemable as he may say.

The way Koito calls Ogata a mountain cat is interesting. We know he was in ranks with Kiroranke when they betrayed Sugimoto. Of course this isn’t a huge shock. Still, it is interesting to learn that Ogata takes after his father despite how much he hated his father.

We learn that Kiroranke is aiming to meet up with Sofia, who both he and Wilk looked up to. Though she was the main one going after to kill the Emperor. So it will be curious to learn more about her and her relationship with Wilk.

This episode adapted chapters 167-169 as well as the rest of chapter 166. Nothing to comment too much about.
